✅ Description:

Proviten IV is a sterile, lyophilized powder for injection/infusion, containing both water-soluble and fat-soluble vitamins. It uses mixed micelles as a solubilizing agent and is presented as a lyophilized orange-yellow powder to be reconstituted with 5 ml of sterile water, 0.9% sodium chloride, or 5% glucose solution before administration.

  • Anaphylactic reactions (rare) may occur, especially from thiamine.

✔️ Proviten IV is indicated for:
  • Daily multivitamin maintenance for adults and children (aged 11 and above) receiving parenteral nutrition.
  • Situations requiring IV administration such as surgery, burns, fractures, severe infections, and comatose states.
✔️ Dosage & Administration

Dosage:

  • Adults and children (11 years and older): 1 vial/day.

Administration:

  • Reconstitute the single-dose vial with 5 ml of sterile water, 0.9% sodium chloride, or 5% glucose.
  • Administer by slow IV injection (over at least 10 minutes) or dilute further for IV infusion.
  • To minimize vitamin losses, mix the vitamins immediately before administration and use within 24 hours.
✔️ Overdose of Proviten N
  • Prolonged administration of high doses can lead to the accumulation of Vitamins A and D.
✔️ Use in Pregnancy & Lactation
  • Not extensively studied in humans during pregnancy. Use only if needed.
  • Not recommended for lactating women.
✔️ Drug Interactions
  • a1-acid glycoprotein-binding drugs (e.g., propranolol, prazosin, quinidine): Close monitoring is required.
  • Folic acid: May increase the metabolism of antiepileptics like phenobarbital, phenytoin, and primidone.
  • Pyridoxine: This may reduce the effectiveness of levodopa.
  • Bleomycin: Can be inactivated by ascorbic acid and riboflavin.

  • Anaphylactic reactions: Particularly in patients allergic to thiamine (Vitamin B1) and nicotinamide. Mild reactions such as sneezing or asthma may be warning signs.
  • Liver function: Patients with jaundice or cholestasis should be closely monitored due to glycolic acid content.
  • Kidney function: Fat-soluble vitamin levels should be monitored in cases of renal impairment.

  • Store below 30°C before reconstitution, protect from light and do not freeze.
  • After reconstitution, store at 2°C to 8°C and use within 24 hours. Discard any unused portion.
